1. Pick the right space
Choose a flat, safe area with room for guests to move without crowding the animals. A yard, a park shelter or a barn floor often works. Check with your host or park about rules.
2. Set a hand washing spot
Public health guidance says to wash hands after touching animals. Set up soap and running water if possible. Hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol is a backup, not a replacement.
3. Separate food from animals
Keep cake, snacks and drinks away from the animal area. Eat first or after, in a separate spot, and wash hands in between. Strollers, cups and toys stay outside the animal area.
4. Plan adult supervision
Little ones need an adult beside them. Decide who will stay near the animals so children can enjoy them safely.
5. Plan for weather
Shade on hot days, cover on rainy days, and water for everyone. Tell your petting zoo provider about your backup plan.
6. Share the details early
Tell us the date, place, number of guests and ages. We reply with what is possible. Request a date.
Arrive and set up early. Greet guests. Open the animal area. Pause for cake away from the animals. Wash hands and finish the visit with photos.
