Riding horses for trails, family and the farm
Steady horses from an Amish family farm. Meet the horse, ride it and ask every question before you decide.
Horses used to real farm life
Our horses live on a family farm and are around people every day. Every horse is different, so we tell you what we know about each one.
What to ask any seller
- See the animal in person, more than once if you can.
- Ask for the age, training, health history and how it behaves with new people.
- Ask what feed it eats and how much. Most horses should eat about 2 percent of their body weight in hay each day.
- Have your own veterinarian do a pre-purchase exam. It is not a pass or fail test. It gives you information to decide.
- Plan for safe fencing, shelter, water and regular hoof care.
A veterinarian familiar with your intended use checks general health and soundness. It is not a pass or fail test. It tells you what is normal, what to manage and what could limit the horse.
What owning a horse needs
- Safe fencing and shelter.
- Clean water every day.
- Good hay, about 2 percent of body weight each day for most horses.
- Regular hoof care and veterinary care.
- Time. Horses need people daily.

Good questions, plain answers
Can I ride the horse before I buy?
We encourage you to meet the horse and see how it behaves with you. Request a time and we will arrange it.
Do you recommend a vet check?
Yes. A pre-purchase exam by your own veterinarian gives you information about health and soundness before you decide.
What does a horse eat?
Most horses should eat about 2 percent of their body weight in hay each day, and at least 1 percent. A 1,000-pound idle horse needs about 20 pounds of hay.
Are the horses suitable for beginners?
Some are. Tell us your experience and what you want to do, and we will tell you plainly which horse fits.
